Research Associate – In Vitro

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with contract research organization (CRO) or relevant experience to join our rapidly growing team as a Research Associate. In this role you will contribute to the company’s contracted study life cycle and execute client projects and programs. Specifically, you will be part of our cross-functional team supporting the in vivo research and executing in vitro studies to advance our clients research and development (R&D) programs.

This role is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, CRO startup. Research Associates work under direct supervision of the Director of In Vitro and general guidance of researchers and scientists. Research Associates perform routine to complex in vitro procedures, and some general facility operational procedures. This position is full-time with laboratory time being on-site at our facilities located in North Grafton, MA.

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Principal contributor in executing contract research study material formulations and downstream in vitro analyses, as well as assigned client studies. Able to work independently with minimal supervision in collaboration with scientists and senior management.

  • Responsible for all aspects of their assigned projects. Collects data, maintains accurate records of experiments and analyses performed for client projects. Prepares data/reports and presentations of experimental results obtained, as required. Utilizes advanced knowledge of specific scientific protocols to analyze, interpret, and/or make deductions based on data obtained through scientific experimentation. 

  • Able to perform complex laboratory procedures to contribute to the timely completion and success of client research studies. 

  • Develop solutions from standard to complex problems which require the regular application of scientific principles to conduct experimental assays and procedures. 

  • Applies standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results; assures the validity of research conducted by ensuring the operational condition of scientific equipment through maintenance, operation of the equipment, and management of the use of the equipment.

  • Sets up and operates/calibrates/maintains laboratory equipment, prepares test materials, performs experimental laboratory procedures, records and consolidates research data, and executes planned research activities using observation, measurement, and analytical techniques.  

  • Organizes centralized files and records; maintains quality assured and timely test results for scientists. Monitor lab expenses and assists with budgetary responsibilities. May participate in client interactions.

Required Qualifications:

​

  • MS in Biochemistry or related field with 3+ years of experience or BS in a Biochemistry or related field, with 5+ years of experience.

  • The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter, have a strong work ethic, be able to generate high quality work under tight deadlines, and enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Highly organized and motivated individual with ability to work independently, with high attention to detail and a proven ability to work cross functionally (e.g. formulation, complex laboratory methods).

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work well in a collaborative fast-paced team environment.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with in vitro techniques in ELISAs, cell isolations, cell culture and BSL2 procedures. Handling, dosing, and sample collections. Technical experience in other techniques a plus.

  • Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite, and other computer-based programs including some scientific, graphic, and statistical software is required. Willingness to work a flexible schedule (off hours, weekends, and holidays) as necessary.

  • Willingness to learn other in vitro techniques as needed.

  • Familiar with maintenance and management of scientific/laboratory equipment.
