Preclinical In Vivo Contract Research

  • IVIS = In Vivo Imaging System

    • Uses the full wavelength spectrum from high energy blue to low energy infrared (430 – 850 nm)

      • Bioluminescent reporters (light emitted following chemical reaction of the luciferase enzyme with its substrate)

      • Fluorescent reporters 

      • Ideal for distinguishing multiple bioluminescent and fluorescent reporters

    • Combines 2D optical and 3D optical tomography

    • Allows for distinguishing different organs in a high-resolution (to 20 microns)

  • Two key areas

    • Anatomical/morphological imaging

    • Molecular imaging

  • Facilitates small animal (whole body) noninvasive longitudinal monitoring of disease progression, cell trafficking, and gene expression patterns in living animals

Facilitates terminal ex vivo tissue imaging from small and large animals
